Environment and sustainable development

Suomivalimo takes into account the environmental aspects in all its operations, aiming to minimize their environmental impact.

Suomivalimo has an environmental permit granted by the Regional State Administrative Agency, and the foundry operates following its requirements applying the best available techniques (BAT).

The most significant environmental aspects are  

• Air emissions
• Noise
• Preparing for chemical leakages
• Re-use of excess foundry sand
• Reduction of material and energy use losses

Suomivalimo uses some hazardous chemicals in its production and is therefore supervised by the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes). The chemicals are stored and used following strictly a safety plan and the chemical safety legislation.
